An Ohio children’s hospital surgeon creates “dressing drawings” so children don’t see scars
A pediatric surgeon at Akron Children’s Hospital is putting down the scalpel and taking a pen to draw on the surgical dressings of his young patients. According to the hospital, Dr. Robert Parry does this so that his patients do not have a long-lasting memory of a wound after a surgical procedure. He surprises them with a hand-drawn dressing featuring a character or something that personally interests them,” the hospital wrote on it official Facebook page. In the past, Parry has drawn characters from Disney, such as Olaf from Frozen, as well as Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. Parry said he’s created more than 10,000 dressing drawings for patients.
